Here are a couple of Dos and Don’ts that you must keep in mind, while E-verifying your ITR: –

Earlier, when the taxpayers used to file his/her Income Tax Return manually, at that time it was mandatory for a taxpayer to verify their return by affixing a signature on it. This gave a sense of authenticity to the document. These days, when a taxpayer wants to verify his/her ITR, they are required to sign and send their ITR-V by post to CPC Bangalore within 120 days of return filing.

With time, the Government of India has made E-verification of Income Tax Return easier, by introducing various other modes via which taxpayers can e-file and e-verify their Income Tax Return in no time. You can E-verify your Income Tax Return by generating an Electronic Verification Code (EVC) which is a 10-digit alphanumeric code and is unique to a PAN.

There are other ways using which you can E-Verify your Income Tax Return and they are: –

Filing Income Tax Return

Net Banking

In order to re-verify your ITR using net banking, you must make sure your bank is authorised by the Income Tax Department for providing such facilities. Proceeding further, for verification of return using net banking, login to your net banking account using your net banking login credentials. There is a tab related to income tax filing on the home page. On selecting the e-verify option, the page will be redirected to the government e-filing portal. Then by clicking on my account on the e-filing page, it will generate the EVC which will be sent to your registered email ID and registered mobile number. Using the EVC you can e-verify your income tax return.

Using Aadhaar Card OTP

For this mode of verification, do ensure to link your Aadhaar Card with the mobile number registered on the income tax portal. Click on the option generate Aadhaar OTP to e-Verify my return. A One-Time Password will be sent to your registered mobile number and will be valid only for 10 minutes. Enter the OTP for E-verification of your Income Tax Return. On successful validation, the return is verified, and you may download the acknowledgement for the same.
