After you file your Income Tax Return, you are required to verify it. Once you verify your ITR, the Income Tax Return filing process will be complete. You can either verify your ITR online or offline, remember you are required to do it within 120 days of filing Income Tax Return, otherwise Income tax Return will be considered invalid.

- You can check the status of your Income Tax Return by logging into the Income Tax Department’s official e-filing website.
- Select the “View Return/ Forms Option”
- From the drop down, the menu you are required to choose the Income Tax Return and the Relevant Assessment Year.
Once you select the above-mentioned option and put the relevant Assessment Year, the status of your ITR will appear on the system screen.

If the status says, submitted and pending for verification’ then it means that you have filed the ITR but not verified it. In this case you are required to verify your Income Tax Return as soon as possible.

If the status says, ‘successfully verified’, it means that you have submitted and duly verified your return. But the ITR has not been processed yet. If your status shows ‘processed’, then it means that the return is successfully processed by the Income Tax Department without any discrepancies.
