The extended last date to file Income Tax Return for the Financial Year 2017-18 is 31st August 2018, many us of know that, it is quite necessary to file Income Tax Return for anyone, who has income in India. We will tell you about another important step without which your Income Tax Return filing is incomplete and that is the verification part. ITR Verification is of utmost importance. If you fail to verify your ITR under any circumstances, then in that case your Income Tax Return will be considered invalid and you may have to file your ITR all over again.
Filing and Verifying the ITR are the two crucial steps, that makes the Income Tax Return filing process complete. A taxpayer is required to verify the ITR within 120 days from the day of filing it. There are several ways by using which an Income Tax Return can be verified.
A taxpayer can either verify the Income Tax Return offline or online.
In order to verify the ITR offline, the taxpayer is required to download and take a print out of ITR-V, that is sent to him/her from the Income Tax Department on the registered mail ID, after the filing of Income Tax Return. The taxpayer is supposed to sign the ITR-V and send it to CPC Bangalore by speed post. The address of CPC Bangalore is mentioned at the bottom part of the ITR-V.
Online Verification or E-verification
If you don’t want to take the hassle of sending your ITR-V to CPC Bangalore, then you can E-verify your ITR. Here are a couple of ways by which you can E-verify your Income Tax Return: –
- E-verification can be done by generating Aadhaar OTP, once you click on this option by visiting the Income Tax Department’s official website, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number that is linked with Aadhaar. Once you put the OTP in the provided space, your E-verification will be done.
- Another way by which you can E-verify your Income Tax Return is by generating EVC OR Electrobic Verification Code.
