Income Tax Department launches E-Nivaran

The Income Tax Department has launched a special taxpayer friendly electronic grievance mechanism called E-Nivaran, where nivaran means redressal. This one-stop grievance redressal mechanism will be operated under the supervision of an officer or an assessing officer.

Before E-Nivaran, dealing with tax authorities required manual filling of letters and several follow-ups to gain the resolution without any consolidated report to list the grievances.

Now, E-Nivaran will integrate all the grievance submitting process modules, such as – Centralised Processing Centre (CPC), Aayakar Sampark Kendra (ASK), CPC–TDS, UTIITSL, and NSDL. This technology is used to ease taxpayer’s problem.

Grievances at E-Nivaran mainly includes queries related to income tax returns filed, rectification application, tax refund and tax demand. It also include queries related to registration, income tax return verification, password related issues and PAN related issues.

To sum, E-Nivaran will consolidate all the grievances addressed to assisting officers, related supervisor, e-filing website team and NSDL/UTIITSL.

However, grievances related to Right to Information (RTI) matters, religious matters, court-related matter, grievances against the foreign government and government employee will not be entertained through this system.

It is for the taxpayers to file and view their grievances and where staff will try to resolve the issue through electronic mode.

A person with or without PAN or TAN can file grievances by just clicking ‘E-Nivaran’ tab on the income tax portal.

The taxpayer needs to provide his/her personal details, grievance details and needs to upload the grievance related documents. After submitting the grievance, you can track the progress of the grievance on the portal using the acknowledge number.

This electronic platform will smooth the flow of information and is expected to benefit the taxpayers as it will save time and submitting issues online will be flexible. Moreover, follow-up will not be hectic and difficult anymore.

With E-Nivaran, taxpayers are assured that the raised issues are considered and the IT department are working to resolve their grievances.

E-Nivaran is believed to provide swift resolution to the taxpayer’s grievances.
