
The due date to file Income Tax Return is 31st July 2018, for the financial year 2017-18 and here are a couple of documents listed below without which you will not be able to file your ITR.
- PAN Card
PAN Card is a Permanent Account Number, that is issued by Income Tax Department. It contains your basic details like, Your Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth and PAN Number. PAN Card is mandatory for the filing of Income Tax Return.

- Aadhaar Card
Aadhaar Card is a document that consists of your Name, Date of Birth, Address and the unique identification number, issued by the Government of India. This unique identification number is called Aadhaar Number.
- Form 16
Form 16 is a document that is provided to you by your employer. It is also called a TDS certificate, as it contains all the details related to an employee’s Salary Break-up and the TDS deducted on it. It is an important document for the salaried individuals to file Income Tax Return. Form 16 is generally divided into two parts, that is Part A and Part B. Part of Form 16 contains details related to the tax deducted by your employer during the year. Other than this it also contains the PAN number or Permanent Account Number, TAN and PAN of your employer. Part B of Form 16 contains the details of your gross salary break-up details such as exempt allowances, perquisites etc.

- Form 26AS
Form 26AS is annual tax statement, it contains the details of tax deducted for a relevant financial year against your PAN. A taxpayer can view and download his/her Form 26AS from TRACES website.
- Salary Slips
Other than the details of perquisites and profit in lieu of salary, salaried taxpayers are supposed to provide details of allowances such as house rent allowance, transport allowance etc. these are taxable, and they are mentioned in the Salary slips of the taxpayers.
